They let me out of the office this weekend

I got lucky and was let out of the office a few weekends ago. I decided to use my freedom to stretch my legs on the Appalachian Trail. One advantage to living in New York is that the metro North railroad has a stop on the AT an hour and a half north of the city.My weekend on the AT started at when i caught the 9:30 trail out of grand central heading north into the mountains. The train drops you off and you have about a mile hike up meadows and cow pastures like this before you get into the woods.

The Gate of Heaven.

The vew from the top of 10 Mile Hill

The 10 Mile River.

My camp saturday night.

My narcissistic self portrait.

The AT train station.

Overall, the trip was great. I was shocked how remote the trail was, considering i was about 70 miles from NYC. There were very few people on the trail. Most of the people i ran into were through-hikers.
