Did Bush really think we could invade Iraq and be putting up Wal-Marts a year later?

As if there needed to be further proof of the war in Iraq being a staggering disaster, This American Life recently did a show that examined some scarcely reported aspects of the war. Among these topics, estimates of the civilian dead (possibly over 100,000), the notion that most people who have died in the conflict did so at the hands of US bombs, not “insurgents” and a critical look at how different life on the ground is in Iraq verses how it is portrayed in the US media.

The specific show:

It is extremely sobering look at the war from those perspectives.

What counts more, being 40+ and still trying to hang onto being punk rock or being 40+ and still rocking your god-damn ass off. I just saw Easy Action take the stage at the Magic Stick. They threw down like a bunch of kids. It was amazing. Brannon is an animal. Every bit as good as when the Laughing Hyenas were around.

Sweden's Favorite Communists

I'm not sure if this feeling will stick around too long, but on the first few listens, I’m totally digging on the new record from The (International) Noise Conspiracy, Armed Love. It's catchy, it's rock and roll, and it even has an acceptable amount of white-boy danciness.
